Stop and change my way of thinking, otherwise my mind goes dark and my heart hurts. It is during those times that I have to lean the most on the Word of God. In this case I read, pray and mediate over Romans 8.

He is risen – and we are saved!
Let’s tell our children that story. Let’s make sure they know that Jesus loves them enough not only to die, but to rise again.

“Do you understand what I have done for you?”

No matter how God-like we want to be, a little neglect is all it takes for weeds to take root in our life. Less than Christ-like characteristics can creep in slowly with no warning.

I ugly-pray-cried that Friday; I am not sure if you ever ugly-pray-cried to God before but it’s not pretty.

It was early in the morning, the servant woke up, walked outside and his heart dropped. Outside, the city was surrounded by the enemy. He started freaking out…

It reminds us that He is our God, and we are His people–and implies strongly (to me, at least), that He, our God, is the ultimate; without Him, what else is there?

It’s what we all want, don’t we? Especially at Christmas, the words are everywhere. But what do we mean? Does that mean we don’t want war? What if we aren’t at war, do we still want peace?

Have a blessed Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Here is some of our favorite Thanksgiving posts from the past years

Sometimes, I pray for a miracle and I don’t really believe God is going to answer. But I pray anyway. Sometimes…sometimes…He answers.

‘for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he protected him. When he heard John, he was greatly perplexed; and yet he liked to listen to him.’ Mark 6:20 (NRSV)
Though King Herod was intrigued by John the Baptist’s words and ‘he liked to listen to him’, the hearing made no difference to Herod.

Why do bad things happen to good people?
Why are bad/foolish people in power?
How do I make wise decisions?
What do I do when bad things happen to me, because of someone’s unwise (or evil) decision?
How can I live a good life?

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.–
Sitting at the mountain ledge, staring out into the lake below me, I could feel the heavens declaring the glory of God.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverb 2:6
And yet Adam’s first son, Cain, murdered his brother Abel in cold blood. Gen 4:1-23

“Come here…you have to see this!”
I stepped outside into the summer night, “Look!” my husband exclaimed. As my eyes adjusted, I could see a multitude of twinkling lights across the row of backyards. It was dozens of fireflies, flashing on and off, sprinkling the night with magic.

God says many things about words in the Bible and even compares them to apples, as He does in Proverbs 25:11: “Winsome words spoken at just the right time are as appealing as apples gilded in gold and surrounded with silver.”

Outside of arachnophobia, there are thousands of little fears that we carry as human beings. Fears that in reality have a high improbability of hurting us, but regardless, they have huge effects on our actions, thoughts, words, time, habits, money, etc.

by Lupie Riley. Recently while surfing on the internet I came across a video of a policeman washing the feet of a blind, homeless man. This gesture touched my heart and had much to say about humility.

It’s an unlikely verse to trigger such emotion. The signing off of a letter to a friend. But I can feel John’s affection in the words; I relate to his longing to be together. If I had to rewrite them for today, the words would say:
“I have so much to say to you but I don’t want to do it over Zoom or FaceTime anymore. For weeks, seeing your faces and hearing your voices was enough, but now I want to sit with you and chat. I want to hug you. I want to be with you in person. That will be a joyful day!”
