Dear Sisters:
It’s Turkey time again. I love Thanksgiving. I mean LOVE Thanksgiving. I love the turkey, I love the gravy, I love the stuffing, I love the mashed potatoes, etc.
I was born in Mexico and lived there for my first 11 years. Thanksgiving is not a holiday that is celebrated in Mexico. Once we moved to the States, we didn’t really start celebrating a “traditional” Thanksgiving until the last 5 years or so. Unfortunately, my family is not a big fan of a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner; my dad will tell you that he is not the biggest fan of turkey, or gravy, or stuffing. Three years ago, I decided to take over the Thanksgiving Dinner. I want to share with you my favorite turkey recipe, stuffing recipe, mashed potatoes recipe and dessert. While the turkey recipe is a three day process, it has been a big hit with my family, to the point that my dad said that he doesn’t like turkey, but he likes my turkey! In my opinion is one of the best recipes out there. The stuffing recipe was a big hit with my husband, and the mashed potato is my own personal recipe.

My favorite stuffing: Herbed-mushroom-Pecan-stuffing-

*When I made this stuffing I made a portion without the mushroom (since not everyone is my family is a mushroom fan). It tasted delicious.

Mashed Potatoes courtesy of Moi:
Garlic Mashed Potatoes:
(serves 5)
Ingredients:
8 Potatoes (I like to use half red and half yellow)
¾ to 1.5+ cups of 2% milk (I know it’s a range but you will see why in a second)
¼ to ¾+ cups of no-salt butter
3 to 6 garlic cloves (how much do you like garlic?)
Knorr Granulated Bouillon Chicken
Pepper
First boil the potatoes until they are soft and easy to mash.
Cut the garlic cloves in half and fry them with a little butter for about 2 minutes. The amount of garlic depend on your preference, I love garlic so I will sometimes put even 8 cloves (but then I smell like garlic for the next three days).
Once the garlic is cooked, put it in a blender and mix it with ¼ cup of milk.
Once the potatoes are done, feel free to peel them or leave the skin (I leave the skin on because I like the taste). Cut them in half, put them in a pan and start mashing away.
Once the potatoes are fully mashed, add the garlic and milk combination and add the butter. At this point turn your stove to the low setting and start mixing.
If you want your mashed potatoes softer, you can add more milk.
If you want them more buttery and oily, add more butter.
As you are mixing the milk and the butter, add the Knorr Granulated Bouillon Chicken, then pepper to taste. Start with a teaspoon of each and go up from there. Make sure it is completely well mixed before adding more as it is very easy to make the mashed potatoes very salty with the Knorr. Take in consideration that you or your guests will most likely put gravy on—so don’t make it too salty.
As usual my family loves the Mexican Cheesecake Recipe. We shared the recipe before; however, here is a link to it again.
I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Love,
Milo
