Today I am choosing to be thankful.
Not FEELING thankful, but CHOOSING thankful.
How I am feeling is stressed, grumpy, angry and sad.
STRESSED because my list is long and my timeline is short.
THANKFUL for the opportunity to gather and the resources to share.
GRUMPY because my holiday traditions are not going to look the same this year.
THANKFUL that I will still be able to spend time with the people I love.
ANGRY because of the division and violence in our communities.
THANKFUL for those who step in to help and bring peace and hope.
SAD because of those no longer with us.
THANKFUL for the time we shared.
My feelings reflect more a random group of dwarves looking for Snow White than a heart of contentment. Choosing to be thankful helps me to start feeling thankful, even though I don’t want to do it some days. It is not always easy but worth the effort.
Lord,
I pray for those who are struggling to feel thankful about life right now. Help them to find the calm, insight, peace, and joy in the midst of this crazy world and to choose thankfulness.
Amen
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas – whatever it may bring.
With love,
Debbie
