“She is so beautiful,” I thought. Nothing fancy, just her regular self, but it was a thought I’ve found recurring in my mind more and more as I watched different friends in animated conversation. What do your friends think of you? I’m finding that many times, they think of me more than I think of me.
More beautiful.
More capable.
More organized.
More smart.
More funny.
More friendly.
More.
Just more.
Why is that? Because we are always comparing? Because we always see our shortcomings? Regardless, chances are, you think more of your friends than they think of themselves. When was the last time you told them? Tell her she is more!
What about God? Oftentimes we view ourselves through the “sinner lens” when we think of how God views us. Using repentance and forgiveness to keep that lens clean before an Almighty God. Even if we don’t fight this forever-wiping-sin habit, we often forget how God really views us. Not just with love. You’ve got that down. Not just through the forgiveness of Jesus. Got that down too.
With pride.
What?
Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Workmanship. Masterpiece. Work of art. Stroke of genius. Creation.
Next time you think you are not enough, remind yourself of that. Remind your friend. Have her remind you.
