Exploring Psalm 139

Psalm 139 (NIV)

You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.

13
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

Why do we need to get vaccinated? Or take vitamins? In case we are exposed to a disease and our body has the strength and defense to fight it off. We might not even be aware that our body was exposed; it silently keeps us safe. I view Psalm 139 the same way I view a vaccine or a vitamin (which sadly can easily be skipped).

The only One that knows us better than ourselves is God, there is nothing we can hide from him. In fact, He knows things that we don’t know about ourselves, which is why it is important to ask him to search us and to remove any spiritual diseases we might be exposed to. Ask him to remove any thing that is offensive in us.

I recommend that you not only read the whole Psalm, but mediate and pray on it. Ask God to search you and to lead you in the way everlasting.
